Portrait of Alin Grigoras, SEO expert based in Rome
SUBJ: GRIGORAS, A. // LOC: 41.90, 12.49

Romanian roots, Roman roads, digital rabbit holes.

I moved to Rome over a decade ago with no connections and zero Italian. No safety net, no plan B. I had a single conviction: if I could learn anything fast enough, I could make it anywhere.

My first real break came in hospitality. I ran the entire digital presence for a luxury boutique hotel in the historic center of Rome. From scratch I rebuilt the brand identity, launched an SEO travel blog about Rome, took the Booking.com score from 8.7 to 9.4, grew organic traffic by +180%, and pushed direct bookings up +90%. Every line of code, every ad campaign, every pixel was self-taught and hands-on. That period gave me the playbook I still use today.

That track record caught the attention of the Dylog Buffetti Group, one of the largest tech groups in Italy. Since 2022 I am the Chief Marketing Officer of three independent companies inside the group. Octorate, an all-in-one hospitality SaaS used by hotels and short-term rentals worldwide. Octotable, a restaurant reservation and table-management platform. OK Home, a smart-hospitality platform for self check-in, guest identification, and energy efficiency. Three different products, three different audiences, three different go-to-market strategies, all running in parallel and all in multiple languages.

My day-to-day moves between SEO audits, paid media reviews, content briefs, AI search experiments, conversion analysis, and the actual code that ships marketing tools and landing pages. I do not delegate what I do not understand, which is why I taught myself to program. I am also a long-time obsessive about how generative search is reshaping discovery, and I run dedicated GEO and AIO experiments alongside traditional SEO.

There is no spoon. And there is no shortcut. I do the work myself.
LEARNING.LOG•••

Education and continuous learning.

Formal credentials matter, but I am happiest when I am learning a new system from scratch.

2023 / PRESENT

42 Roma Luiss • Software Engineering

Peer-to-peer programming with no teachers and no classes. Pure project-based learning in C, algorithms, system administration, and shell scripting. The philosophy is simple: figure it out, or fail trying. I chose the first.

2024

Luiss Business School • AI & Prompt Engineering

Applied artificial intelligence for business operations. Prompt design, large language models, AI agents, and workflow automation. I brought everything I learned directly into my marketing stack.

2023

Semrush Academy and Meta Academy

Semrush Intensive SEO Certification and Backlink Management Certification, plus the Meta iOS Development and Version Control Certification. Continuous certification keeps the toolbox sharp.

How I work.

Not a deck-maker. Not a hand-waver. I am in the codebase, in the data, and in the campaign settings every single day.

Full-stack mindset

I do not delegate what I do not understand. Before I manage a campaign, I build it. Before I hire a developer, I code the prototype. That is why I went to 42 Roma Luiss. Not to become a software engineer, but to stop being dependent on one when I have a marketing problem to solve.

Multilingual by default

Every campaign I run is built to work in at least four languages from day one. Hreflang setups, localized landing pages, culturally adapted copy, market-specific keyword research. That is localization, not translation, and the difference shows up in the conversion rate.

Automation over repetition

If I do something twice, the third time it is automated. n8n workflows, Python scripts, AI agents, ChatGPT and Claude pipelines. I build systems that scale and remove the operational tax. Marketing teams should ship leverage, not to-do lists.

Data over opinion

Reports are not slides, they are decision frameworks. GA4, Looker Studio, Search Console, Semrush, all wired into dashboards I actually open every morning. If a number does not change a decision, it is decoration and gets cut.
